They say that hindsight is 20/20. We’ve all come out of a project or job with a list of things we wish we’d known before getting started. So it’s not uncommon for a new business owner to wonder, “How can I make creating a website for my business easier?”
The answer to this one is pretty straightforward:
Easier said than done, right? What business owner has the time to do all the research necessary to make the best decisions possible before jumping into a site build? It can take a long time to sort through the hundreds of articles out there on platforms, hosting, builders and more. Then you start meeting with all of the agencies in town which takes up at least an hour of your time for each one you meet with. After that you’re weighing five different proposals, doing a SWOT analysis, and trying to decide whether or not going with this person or that person will produce the end result you want.
Who has time for that?!
The good news is that there’s a solution out there you may not have thought about before. A 3rd party consultant. A good web or marketing consultant is going to do the following:
- A consultation. They should sit down with you to learn about your business. They will want to know what you’ve already done for web and marketing and listen to what you are looking to do next.
- Next they should be able to help you define your needs. This means that they should have enough experience in the industry as well as up-to-date knowledge so they can help guide you in determining what you really need. This may not always match what you initially thought, but that’s the reason you would bring in a consultant, to get an outside viewpoint on what might be the most effective in your specific scenario.
- Once they have helped you put together a plan, they should be able to help you implement it. Sometimes they become the person for the job, and in others, they might refer you to someone they know can do what you need really well. The benefit of working with a consultant is that they have industry knowledge that can get you pointed in the right direction. They’ve already done the research.
This is what I do.
My job as a web and marketing consultant is to listen to your ideas, define your needs, and then help you find the best person for the actual work you need done. I do all of this for free in your initial consultation. In most cases, I am going to refer you to someone I know who will take really good care of you. In fewer cases, I might take on the work myself. This happens for causes that are near and dear to me, as well as projects that match my passions.
It’s not my goal to sell you something expensive or pass you off to some guy in his basement down the street. Instead, I pride myself on taking excellent care of my clients, even when they don’t pay me a dime. We all deserve to have a great experience when it comes to your website build and marketing campaigns. Stop wasting time figuring it all out for yourself and give me a call.
